you aren't defined but what you have done.
you aren't defined by what you are doing.
you aren't defined by what you will do.
hear me when I say that you don't have identify yourself with choices you've made that you feel make you inadequate. we have never been loved or defined by what we've done, nor will we ever.
"But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!" [2 cor 12:9]
you aren't trapped in your choices.
you aren't looked down upon.
we all have scarlett letters, but we don't have to bear them.
we don't have to live as a prisoner to our choices.
we don't have to live as a prisoner to our secrets.
David was called "a man after God's own heart" and yet he was the furthest from perfect. And yet, the promises of the Lord for his life didn't not falter under his choices.
Before his committing murder and adultry:
"Whatever you have in mind, go ahead and do it, for the LORD is with you." (2 Samuel 7:3)
After committing murder and adultry:
"Nathan replied to David, "Whatever you have in mind, do it, for God is with you." (1 Chron 17:2)
Our actions do not determine His. Our actions do not define us. He is sovereign & merciful because that is WHO HE IS.
“What more can I say to you? You know what your servant is really like, Sovereign Lord. Because of your promise and according to your will, you have done all these great things and have made them known to your servant. [2 Samuel 7:20-21]
David was acknowledging that the Lord knew all he had done, and all he would do. The promises of the Lord, the dreams He has for us and the love He gives are without reason. Our actions don't determine His.
Take some time to remember the dreams you had as a little kid. Forgive yourself and then sit back as the Ultimate Dreamer awakens those dreams & desires that were once thought to be lost within your heart.
